Volume One Article Six December 1998 MONOSODIUM GLUTIMATE Thanks for joining us on Health Chats! Last week we talked about how Selenium, vitamin E and unsaturated fatty acids could reverse Cardiomyopathy heart disease. This week we are going to talk about Monosodium Glutamate(MSG). Monosodium Glutamate is sold to food manufacturers and restaurants to be used to enhance the flavor of foods. This chemical food additive originated in the orient and in its infancy in the United States it was, by and large, used only in Chinese or oriental food. Thus the expression "Chinese Syndrome" was used to express the discomfort or reaction to this food additive by those who consumed it. Today the commercial food market has promoted the use of this chemical additive to the extent that it is found in nearly all restaurant food and many supermarket foods. The reason for this push in sales is number one, the almighty dollar. Restaurant owners and food processing companies are conned into using this food additive because they want their food to taste as a good as their competitor. The forces for the use and promotion of MSG in opposition to the forces opposing the use of this food additive has resulted in the formation of two opposing organizations. The Glutamate Association in Washington DC 20004, at 555 13th Street, is a power promoting and lobbying for the use of MSG in foods and the NoMSG (National Organization Mobilized to Stop Glutamate) is an organization formed to educate consumers regarding the dangers of MSG and the ways in which it is hidden, to encourage MSG-free products, to support MSG-sensitive individuals and to promote independent MSG research. This organization's address is PO Box 367, Santa Fe, NM 87503, phone 800-BEAT-MSG, www.nomsg.com.. The con job given to us by the MSG promoters is that it is nothing more than the sodium salt of glutamate and it functions the same as the glutamates that occur naturally in foods. Their literature talks of the glutamate content of foods and that the average American consumes about 11 grams of glutamate per day from natural protein sources. The wording is tricky.........one moment they are saying Monosodium Glutamate and the next moment they are just saying Glutamate. Are there glutamates in food? Of course there are and do they give food flavor........YES! But we are NOT talking glutamates we are talking monosodium glutamate! If we talk Oxygen and Hydrogen are we talking about the air we breathe or are we talking about the water we drink? Is their any difference in the two? Duhhhh............does a submarine have screen doors? Try sticking your head in a bucket of water and inhale the hydrogen and oxygen present in this compound or substance. Monosodium glutamate insinuates that an atom of sodium has bonded with a glutamate radical. Now we have an electrical matrices that is wrong for the body. It has the wrong electrical spin! David Elliott says in his book, The Electric Universe, "The matrices your body needs have been designed into Nature. Change those matrices at you own peril"(p-40). John Thomas in his book, Young Again!, talks of sodium being a concentrated DEAD energy field and warns against the use of monosodium glutamate. Thomas talks of left spin (-) and right spin (+) products and tells you we should never put left spin negative energy products into our body. MSG is wrong, wrong, wrong for our system and does not break down like other toxins but remains as a detrimental electrical matrices short circuiting our nervous system and electrical field until it is eliminated from our body. It is neuro-toxic! As a Clinical Kinesiologist we see MSG toxic reactions in our office every week without failure and can prove this to our and our patients satisfaction. The proof is "in the pudding" and treating someone for MSG toxicity when it happens to be a virus causing the problem is not going to get results! The MSG syndrome is worsening at a very rapid rate. The content of MSG in restaurant foods is increasing at an alarming rate. The good news is that shopping for foods in the super market attempting to avoid MSG is getting somewhat better. By this I mean more and more companies are now providing food free of MSG. This is not happening because they believe that MSG is bad for you but it is more a money matter.........they want your dollar as a label reader who is seeking to avoid MSG. There is a "catch 22" to label reading however. Companies that label ..... No MSG added means they did not put any MSG in that particular food. So there may be ingredients in that food that already had MSG in it. If it reads No MSG than there should be no MSG in that particular food. One must also realize that certain labeled ingredients already have a percentage of MSG in them. For example Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Hydrolyzed Plant Protein, Autolyzed Yeast, Sodium and Calcium Caseinate all have a percentage of MSG in them. For this information purchase Dr. George Schwartz, MD's book, In Bad Taste, The MSG Syndrome. Another good book on MSG and other food additives like Aspartame is Dr. Russell Blaylock, MD's book, Excitotoxins, The Taste That Kills. These are most informative books. Also Dr. Schwartz's book has an additional booklet as an Update that is loaded with testimonials. These are people with serious health problems not just an occasional allergy or a gas bubble caught crosswise........we are talking serious and debilitating conditions. Get his book especially if you have had chronic debilitating health problems with no answers.................MSG just might be a major problem for you. Get off the MSG and get on Dr. Wallachs Minerals, Ultimate and Oxybody and get yourself rehabilitated!! There is no rationale for remaining sick and if you are on allopathic drugs you need to ask your doctor to slowly remove you from these medications as your health improves through a more natural means. Nutrisweet is another "health offender" and can be well understood by getting Blaylocks book on Excitotoxins. I have e-mailed the Equal (NutraSweet) people advising them to read Blaylocks book and was granted a reply. The NutriSweet Company, of course, finds no harm in their product stating that, "NutraSweet has been on the market for 15 years and regularly enriches the lives of more than 100 million people around the world." Their comment concerning Blaylock was, "...that self-styled aspartame experts provide a disservice to the public by causing unwarranted alarm and leading people to further mistrust science." What is more scientific than SICK people who's sickness is turned completely around by avoiding products like MSG and NutraSweet? Science has about as much efficacy as the "Experts" that run the scientific studies. This week a patient brought in a magazine, Women's World, November 24th issue because she could not believe an article in it entitled, "4 forbidden foods that are really good for kids". The four foods..... Hot dogs, Sugar, Chocolate and Aspartame. Here is another scientific article by brain-dead "Experts" like nutrition expert Chris Rosenbloom, Ph.D., who states that those who have said, "Don't feed kids sugar; it'll make them hyperactive" are probably wrong because recent research suggests the opposite is true; sugar may calm kids down because it's high in carbohydrates! And that medical studies comparing kid's behavior before and after they consume sweets show sugar doesn't affect how they act - for better or for worse! Duhhh! Other comments in the article by "Experts" MD's etc. are that "chocolate offers a health benefit - it's high in copper" and that "hot dogs with nitrites are not cancer causing; that lettuce and tomatoes contain more nitrites than hot dogs". I wonder in what form? And on Aspartame the article claims that NutraSweet, which has been blamed for everything from headaches to mood swings, is SAFE! This is according to the World Health Organization, the American Cancer Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Because of "Experts" and "Scientific" studies like these America gets sicker and sicker! My advice.....Clean up your diet........get on Wallach's mineral supplements and move into a new level of vitality, energy and sense of well being! We are helping people every day achieve this level of health with great success. There is a price to pay in life style changes and priorities for the billfold.............but sick or dead just don't cut it folks. Next week I would like to talk about "Petroleum Protein" the "Natural" food from Amoco's kitchen's. This is old news from the Green Revolution (a coined phrase that needs explanation) that dates back to the 1970,s. This information was in an article by Michael Harris entitled, "Eating Oil". My concern for such articles or rather information is that it should be knowledge familiar to most people..........but it isn't. In 30 years I have shared valuable information with my patients including the petroleum protein food extender and in this case no one and I mean NOT one person was knowledgeable of this petrochemical being introduced into the American food supply! This is sad because we are a people moving forward totally oblivious as to why we are one of the sickest nations on planet earth.
