Common Customer Questions & Concerns
What's the difference between your prices and cellular?
In any given market, we expect our prices to be 5-10 percent lower than prices for
cellular service, often much more. When the free added features are included, the savings
really mount up. They are able to control their communications in an entirely new way
while saving money.
Why should I pay for the handset when others are giving them away for free?
There's no such thing as a free phone, and consumers know that. They know wireless
phones don't cost pennies to manufacture, and that the difference is being made up
somewhere else, typically in a long-term contract with high rates for service, features,
and charges for activating service and connecting calls to the local land-line network.
Sprint PCS is charging fair market value for digital handsets that come equipped with a
basic package of advanced PCS features. And we don't require a "cellular style"
long-term contract. There's no activation fee, no separate interconnection charges, and
our air time is priced to encourage people to use our service. It's a demonstrable
difference from what's happening in the cellular market today.
In most cases, the savings found from a Sprint PCS phone will more than pay for the
cost of the phone within a few months, especially for high end users.
Sprint's coverage area is not as big as some others.
You're concerned about using your phone when you want to, right? Where will you make
most of your calls? Well, Sprint is the largest digital PCS carrier in the country and the
coverage is expanding rapidly. The cost savings and features of the phone where you will
be predominantly using it make it a value you really can't pass up. And we can show you
how to eliminate roaming charges in 77 of the nation's largest cities.
We are working on national cellular roaming capabilities right now also.
